So, why do I like goofy looking halloween treats so much?

My dad's favorite holiday has always been halloween. He's gone absolutely ham for it for as long as I can remember. So growing up, the whole house got into the spirit! We had homemade costumes, we went to multiple neighborhoods to trick or treat, and we watched a lot of halloween movies and tv shows.

I had a couple favorite things that would happen around this time of year. When we went out grocery shopping, I loved to go look at magazines. And halloween magazines were some of my favorites. The colors, the spooky-cute concepts, how they all looked so easy to make, I just really really loved food magazines in October. We would also watch shows at dinner, and Halloween Wars was a favorite in my house. I got crazy invested in those competitions, I loved seeing what they would come up with and I'd make my own ideas too!

One year my parents did a big halloween treat buffet before we went out trick or treating. They did the little mummy pigs in a blanket, they did graveyard dirt cups, they gave us spaghetti and told us it was "blood sauce oOoOoOoOo", among a bunch of other little treats. It's one of my favorite holiday specific memories!

This shrine is basically my thank you to my parents for letting us have so much fun for so many halloweens, and a tribute to my kid self who could look at the magazines but couldn't afford to take them home. All the pictures are here now, you can look at them whenever you want :)
